Vomit Iridescence - Companion Poem to Mute
Vomit Iridescence
The Film:
Verbal communication has been outlawed by the rich elite in an attempt to stop the public speaking out against the conditions they live in. The new laws are enforced by the security department of the 'Spectrum' Corporation - a huge conglomerate of the five biggest companies in the world.
'MUTE' is the story of Charlie - a young film enthusiast, and Spectrum employee, and his gradual involvement with Mandy - a young woman on the run from Spectrum, who has set up underground clubs where people can speak out. As Spectrum find out about these clubs, it's only a matter of time before their lives are in serious danger. With it's blend of political thriller, absurd comedy, love story, and intense family drama, 'MUTE' is one of a kind, and worth talking about.
The Poem:
In the film, Nathan T. Dean performs in one of these underground clubs as a pseudo-fictionalised version of himself. This download is a full transcription of the poem utilised in part for the film, and explores the ideas of speaking out in the most fundamental of ways. You have words to say, say them. Good, bad, love, hate. Doesn't matter. As long as it is true.
